Information on the upgrade of the Funkturm interchange from 2025/26
Many roads lead to Berlin – and to our centrally located exhibition grounds. Messe Berlin’s close proximity to the urban road network and the A100 and A115 motorways at the Funkturm interchange is an advantage to our visitors. Originally designed for 20,000 vehicles per day, traffic at this interchange has today reached 230,000, making it one of Germany’s busiest motorway junctions. After 50 years of use, it is now due to be rebuilt and modernised. This upgrade is urgently necessary in order to bring the intersection up to today’s technical standards and ensure it can in future cope with even more traffic. There are already road closures due to bridge damage, which is leading to tense traffic situations.
This page provides information on the construction work.
Summary of plans to date
The upgrade will take place on an almost two-kilometre stretch of the urban A 115 and A 100 motorways. Numerous slip roads and bridges will be rebuilt. The motorway is due to remain open while work is ongoing. In principle, at least two out of three lanes are to stay open. There are also plans to build a new entry/exit at Messedamm. The roadworks are scheduled to begin no earlier than late 2025 and the project will take several years to complete.
