Berlin, 19 March 2019 - From today until Thursday, representatives of the international bus industry will be gathering in Berlin. A combination of trade fair, future forum and bdo congress, the BUS2BUS is a unique meeting place for established companies to exchange experiences and ideas with newcomers to the mobility industry.
Dr. Christian Göke, Chairman of the Management Board of Messe Berlin: "As in many other industries, digitisation is making great advances in the bus industry too. Bus companies - or rather mobility providers - and manufacturers are currently facing great challenges. The course is now being set for the business of the future. It is the aim of BUS2BUS to actively support this process and provide answers to the questions of the future. We offer a platform which demonstrates the high innovativeness of the industry. There is nothing else like it. The great interest shown this year proves that we have touched a nerve."
In the wake of its successful premiere two years ago, the BUS2BUS is on a growth path: the number of exhibitors has risen considerably and the exhibition space has more than doubled. More than 100 exhibitors from 13 countries will be presenting their products and services as well as innovative technological and digital solutions. More buses will be on show, not only indoors, but also outdoors. Outside, buses from five manufacturers can be viewed and tried out.
The BUS2BUS will be opened with a tour of the exhibition and speech by Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer. The International Road Transport Union (IRU) also supports the BUS2BUS and is taking advantage of the event to address key industry issues at an international level.
With Alexander Dennis, Anadolu Isuzu, Ebusco, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes Benz, Otokar, Scania, SETRA, Sileo, VDL and Yutong,
several reputable national and international manufacturers will be represented. But it’s not only established companies presenting themselves at BUS2BUS: in a start-up area, 16 young companies will be showcasing their innovations. With BUS2Pitch, BUS2Insights and BUS2Connect, there are three new formats. The aim of all three is to achieve an even stronger cross-linking of young ideas with companies already established in the industry. Twelve start-ups altogether will be given the chance to present their ideas to a large audience at BUS2Pitch on 19 and 20 March and perhaps go home as the day's winners. The BUS2Connect networking event will bring together start-ups, manufacturers and next-generation bus companies and take them on a bus tour of Berlin's technology scene on 20 March. BUS2Insights will offer exhibitors the opportunity to present their innovative solutions on 21 March.
At the bdo congress, entrepreneurs, politicians and industry representatives will be discussing current goals, who takes what stance and what sort of regulations the future holds. The congress sees itself as the mouthpiece of an extremely dynamic industry, and will voice its strategies and recommendations for the promotion of public bus transport, bus tourism and long-distance bus services to politicians and the public again this year .
The Future Forum at BUS2BUS is about raising awareness concerning the changes taking place in the bus industry. On each of the three days of the trade fair, the Future Forum will be dedicated to one main topic, with the spectrum ranging from the digitisation of the bus industry to connected cities and new mobility concepts for rural areas to bus manufacturers and the topics relevant to them, such as new drive technologies and autonomous driving.
